Your dashboard can make a PowerPoint of the latest year's results for a whole-staff meeting. With school leaders and faculties, the dashboards themselves work better, because people can explore them. The presentation is for when everyone is in the room together.
Open your dashboard from your computer. Download the file and double-click it, so it opens in Chrome or Edge. Don't open it straight from OneDrive, SharePoint or Teams in your browser. Opening your files has more on this.
The steps
- Open your saved HSC dashboard from your computer and click Make files for staff in the bar across the top.
- Under For a staff meeting, tick A PowerPoint presentation.
- Choose the Example subject. The presentation uses it to show what one subject's results look like.
- Leave Hide student names ticked, unless your school is happy for names to be shown. Hidden names show as Student 1, Student 2 and so on.
- Untick everything else you don't need. Several files are already ticked.
- Click Choose a folder and make the files. When the folder window opens, make a new folder inside your Downloads folder and choose it. Edge and Chrome won't save straight into Downloads itself, and folders synced to OneDrive can interrupt the saving. It takes about a minute.
- Open the presentation from that folder, named for example Brindle Creek High School HSC 2025 staff presentation, and look through it before the meeting.
Worth knowing
- Talk with the example subject's Head of Faculty first. Their students' results will be in front of the whole staff, and it helps them to know that before the meeting.
- The slides are pictures of the dashboard's charts, so they can't be edited as charts. Under each one is the tab it comes from, so staff can find it in their own dashboard and explore it there.
- The speaker notes have the dashboard's explanation of each chart.
- You can add your own slides, or take some out, as with any PowerPoint.
If something goes wrong
The presentation is made with the other files for staff, so the messages are the same. See Making files for staff.
